Outdoor Kimono Photoshoot in Asakusa

An outdoor session is shot around the streets of Asakusa. Instead of a white studio wall, the background is a vermilion gate, stone paving and whatever is in flower that week. Thirty minutes starts at ¥10,000, and the popular 60-minute session is ¥16,000. Prices include tax.

Who is an outdoor session right for?

Guests who want to keep more than “me in a kimono” — who want the day in Asakusa itself. In places with a clear season to them, cherry blossom, hydrangeas, red plum, the same kimono photographs with a completely different mood.

Because the photographer shoots while you walk, you end up with more than standing poses: turning back, laughing, talking side by side. That is what being outdoors gives you.

The other way round, if you would rather avoid rain or midsummer heat, or you do not want passers-by in the frame, an indoor studio session is the alternative.

How do I choose between 30, 60 and 120 minutes?

Choosing by the number of photos is the clearest way. Thirty minutes is ¥10,000 for 50 unedited and 5 retouched. Sixty minutes is ¥16,000 for 100 unedited and 10 retouched. Two hours is ¥32,000 for 160 unedited and 20 retouched.

Most guests take the 60. Think of 30 minutes as “one place, shot properly”, 60 as “a few places while walking”, and 120 as “the seasonal spot and the temple visit in the same session”.

When do the photos arrive?

Unedited photos reach you by cloud download link within 2 days of the shoot. Retouched images follow within 5 business days of your selection being finished. If you want more retouched frames than the package includes, they are ¥500 each.

Does the session price include the kimono rental?

No. The session and the rental are two separate charges. Komon starts at ¥6,000 and furisode at ¥25,000. The rental price covers the kimono set, zori sandals, a bag and basic hair styling with a hair ornament.

Make-up is booked in advance and cannot be added on the day. If you would like it, it is ¥4,500 per person — tell us when you reserve.

How many people can be photographed together?

Up to 4 guests per photographer. If your family or group is larger than that, raise it with us when you book so we can plan around it.

Booking, and how the day runs

Photo sessions are reserved in advance and cannot be added on the day. The photography reservation deposit is ¥2,000, and paying it is what confirms the booking.

On the day you are dressed and have your hair done first, then head out to shoot. You can stay in kimono around Asakusa afterwards; the set comes back by 17:00. A security deposit of ¥10,000 per person is taken when you head out and returned in full when the kimono comes back.
