Can I leave my suitcase at the kimono shop in Asakusa?

The suitcase is the thing most people have not thought about when they arrive in Asakusa. Your dressing appointment is at a fixed time, and walking around all day in a kimono while wheeling a large case is not a realistic plan. Sort out where the luggage goes first, and the rest of the day runs the way you imagined it.

Can I store a suitcase at the shop?

No. There is limited space in store, so we cannot take large luggage. The rooms are built around dressing and changing, and there is nowhere to park a wheeled case for the day.

“I will bring it and figure it out when I get there” is the version of the plan that costs the most time. If you are coming straight from a hotel check-out, secure a place for the bag before you head to the shop.

Where can I leave luggage nearby?

There are plenty of coin lockers in the area. On top of that, the ecbocloak app lets you search for nearby drop-off points — cafés and shops that rent out spare space by the hour. On weekends and public holidays, when lockers fill up early, that is the more dependable route.

Asakusa is a busy tourist district, and competition for lockers rises during cherry blossom season, autumn leaves and long weekends. Book a spot through the app the evening before and the morning becomes a simple drop-and-walk.

What happens to the clothes I change out of?

They are kept at the shop free of charge while you are out, so you are not carrying a paper bag of jeans around Nakamise. Coats and trainers go in with the rest of what you take off.

Valuables are the exception: passports, wallets and cameras stay with you, as we cannot be responsible for loss or damage. Every plan includes a bag chosen to go with the kimono, so move across only what you actually need for the day.

So what do I actually need to bring?

The plan price already covers the full kimono set, the sandals, the bag and basic hair styling. That leaves exactly two things to bring yourself: an inner layer to wear under the kimono, and whatever valuables fit in the bag.

You will walk further than you expect. A loop of Senso-ji and Nakamise plus a detour along the Sumida river turns every extra gram into tiredness by mid afternoon. Anything that can be left in a locker should be.

When do I get my own clothes back?

When you come back from your day out. Same-day returns close at 17:00, so that is the latest you will be back at the shop, and the schedule for the rest of the day is best built backwards from it.

If you want the evening in kimono as well, you can extend to a next-day return for ¥1,100 per person, and the set comes back by 14:00 the following day. If you have a train to catch the next morning, plan around 14:00 rather than 17:00.
