Kids and Family Kimono Rental in Asakusa

Children’s kimono start at ¥5,500. Add ¥6,000 for a women’s komon or ¥8,000 for a men’s set and you have the whole family dressed. This is the combination chosen by guests who want one set of photographs with everyone in it.

How much is a child’s kimono?

From ¥5,500 per child. Adults are counted separately: ¥6,000 for a women’s komon and ¥8,000 for a men’s set. A family of three is simply ¥5,500 + ¥6,000 + ¥8,000. There is no bundled family rate, so once you decide who wears what, the total is something you can work out yourself.

What should we tell you before booking?

Your child’s gender and height. Children’s kimono have a narrower size range than adult ones, so knowing both in advance lets us set the right set aside and keeps dressing short on the day. For the adults, the style you want and whether you would like make-up is enough.

What does the price include?

The kimono set, zori sandals, a matching bag and basic hair styling with a hair accessory. Dressing is part of the price and nothing on that list is billed separately.

Two things are optional. Make-up is ¥4,500 per person and must be booked in advance. A more elaborate hairstyle is ¥1,700 per person and can usually be added at the counter.

How long does a day with a child take?

Allow about an hour from arriving to walking out, hair included. Small children tend to need a pause somewhere in the middle, so an early morning slot leaves the rest of the day easier to plan.

Everything returns by 17:00 on the same day. If you want the evening as well, extend to a next-day return for ¥1,100 per person and bring it back by 14:00.

The clothes you change out of are stored free of charge while you are out, and valuables stay with you. A refundable security deposit of ¥10,000 per person is held while you are out and returned in full when the kimono comes back.

Can we photograph without walking all day?

Yes. A studio session is ¥10,000 for 45 minutes and delivers 50 unedited photos, 5 retouched ones and a choice of 2 scenes. It does not depend on the weather and it finishes before a small child runs out of patience. Photo sessions are booked in advance and cannot be added on the day.

When should we book?

The reservation deposit is ¥1,000 for one to four guests and ¥2,000 for five to eight, and paying it confirms the booking. Cancellations and date changes are free until 20:00 the day before your visit. A child’s mood is not something you can know in advance, so book once the date is fixed and tell us the day before if anything changes.
