Money is the part worth settling before you start choosing a kimono, especially if you are visiting from abroad and wondering how much cash to carry. Below are the payment methods we take, what actually confirms a booking, and the deposit that is held for the day and handed straight back.

Which payment methods can I use?

WeChat Pay, Alipay, credit cards and cash. Visitors from China and Taiwan can pay with the app they already have on their phone, so there is no detour to an exchange counter before the appointment.

How much is the reservation deposit, and when is the booking confirmed?

The kimono reservation deposit is ¥1,000 for one to four guests and ¥2,000 for five to eight. The photography deposit is ¥2,000. The reservation is confirmed once that deposit is paid.

In other words, the deposit is what “holding a date and time” consists of. Weekend slots and the cherry blossom and autumn foliage weeks fill up first, so it is worth doing this as soon as the date is fixed.

Is the security deposit part of the price?

No. The security deposit is money we hold, not a fee. We take ¥10,000 per person when you head out, or ¥20,000 per person for luxury furisode, and return the full amount when the kimono comes back.

It is held per person, so a group of four leaves four times that amount. The number can look larger than the rental itself, but it is money that comes straight back to you at the end of the day.

What does the plan price already cover?

The plan price includes the full kimono set, the sandals, the bag and basic hair styling with an ornament. The dressing service itself is in there too.

On top of that, exactly four things can add to the bill. Makeup is ¥4,500 per person and must be booked in advance — we cannot add it on the day. Elaborate hair styling is ¥1,700 per person. Upgrading from a half-width obi to a full obi costs ¥1,500 for the Otaiko knot and ¥3,000 for a decorative knot. Extending to a next-day return is ¥1,100 per person.

Photo sessions are priced separately from the rental and are also booked in advance rather than added on the day, so mention photography when you reserve.

Can I reserve one specific kimono?

Yes, if it is paid in full — that is the only way a specific piece can be put aside for you, and we cannot change it once you arrive.

If you would rather decide in the moment, that is completely normal: you choose from whatever is on the rails when you walk in.

What happens to my money if I cancel?

Free cancellation and date changes close at 20:00 the day before your visit. After that we cannot accept a change or a cancellation, bad weather included, so check the forecast the evening before.

If you are more than 30 minutes late for your appointment we may not be able to dress you, and that slot is not refunded. A message as soon as you know you are running late — a delayed train, a slow morning — helps a great deal.

Yes. We accept WeChat Pay, Alipay, credit cards and cash, so visitors from abroad can pay with the app they already use rather than hunting for an exchange counter.

The kimono reservation deposit is ¥1,000 for 1–4 guests and ¥2,000 for 5–8. The photography deposit is ¥2,000. The booking is confirmed once that deposit is paid.

All of it. We hold ¥10,000 per person while you are out, or ¥20,000 per person for luxury furisode, and return the full amount when the kimono comes back. It is money we hold, not a fee.

Four things only. Makeup at ¥4,500 per person, elaborate hair styling at ¥1,700 per person, an obi upgrade (Otaiko knot ¥1,500, decorative knot ¥3,000), and extending to a next-day return at ¥1,100 per person.

Once the money side is clear, all that is left is picking a set. Komon is the most-chosen group in Asakusa and the gentlest on the budget.
