Kimono rental plans in Asakusa
Pick the kimono first, then the store. Every plan below includes dressing, and the price shown is the price you pay per person.
Where should you start?
There are only three forks. First: are you walking around yourselves, or is someone photographing you? Walking means a kimono plan; wanting to keep the images means adding a photo plan on top.
Second: who is wearing it. One woman, a group with men or children in it, or two or more of you dressing together — the pages split here.
Third: how formal the occasion is. A day out in Asakusa calls for everyday wear; a ceremony or a reception calls for formal wear. The groups below run in that order, so working down from the top rarely goes far wrong.
Everyday wear for a day out
These two split on the obi and on how the fabric reads: one is the easier thing to wear, the other photographs brighter. Both are put together for a full day of walking around Asakusa, so choosing on colour and pattern alone is perfectly reasonable.
Formal wear, and choosing by cloth
Rank is not the thing to choose by. It comes down to whose occasion it is and what kind of occasion. Start from the formal page if you are choosing by degree of formality, the silk page if you are choosing the cloth itself, and the furisode page if this is a coming-of-age occasion.
Men and children
For these two, measurements come before design. For men that means height; for children it means height as well, not age. What to tell us when you book is set out on each page.
Two or more of you
The only dividing line is headcount: two of you go to the couple page, anything larger to the group page. Either way everyone still picks their own kimono, so let the number decide which door you go in.
Having someone photograph you
One choice: outdoors or indoors. Outdoors if you want the streets of Asakusa in the frame, indoors if you would rather not be at the mercy of the weather. Both are booked in advance, so decide this while you are deciding the date.

For anyone starting from the price. The kimono column is a starting price per person; the photo column is a set price for the length of the session. Prices are the same at either store.

Questions that cut across plans
Which plan is the most affordable?
A children's kimono at ¥5,500 and, among adults, komon from ¥6,000 sit at the bottom of the table above. What you actually pay is the total across everyone in your party, and hair and obi choices move it as well.
Which kimono come with a fukuro obi?
The everyday styles come with a half-width obi; formal wear, furisode and the men and children ranges come with a fukuro obi. A half-width can also be swapped for a fukuro. Which one comes with what, and how a swap is counted, is on each plan page.
Do the two stores charge different prices?
No. The table above applies at either store, so pick whichever fits your day better. Directions for each are on the store pages.
Is there anything beyond the kimono itself?
